~Biography for Dr. Huang~


Dr. Vanda Huang graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (which is now known as NUNM) in Portland, OR with a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. She has a B.A. in Philosophy from Northwestern University. A few years ago, Dr. Huang moved her private practice from New York City back to the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Vanda Huang has treated hundreds of patients with acute and chronic disease including:

She has also used acupuncture, cupping, and Chinese herbs to help with:

Dr. Huang has had a special interest in the effects of the nervous system and psyche on chronic health conditions since working on her thesis while at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine. Portions of that thesis (The Emotional Roots of Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain) eventually evolved into a paper on polyvagal theory and acupuncture. Dr. Huang has studied with Chinese Medicine doctors in Taiwan in both hospital and clinical settings. She has researched articles on clear cell and spindle cell sarcoma at the Cleveland Clinic Cardiology Department and has worked with blood samples from hepatitis B patients and apes with HIV at the Institut Biomedical Cordeliers in Paris, France to study the effects of superoxide dismutase on chromosomal aberrations and has been published related to that research.*

Dr. Huang has also had experience working with homeless youth, educating patients on birth control and HIV/STI prevention. Dr. Huang has treated low-income seniors with chronic disease such as Parkinson’s, diabetes, hypertension and arthritis. She has also worked in outpatient substance abuse clinics, performing ear and scalp acupuncture on large groups of homeless/low-income clients with drug and alcohol addictions.

Along with acupuncture, moxa and cupping, she treats patients using botanicals, nutrition and lifestyle counseling. She practices a combination of both Eastern and Western medicine to provide care to patients of all ages. She educates patients on lifestyle factors to improve their health and prevent disease.

Dr. Vanda Huang has an active acupuncture and naturopathic license in the state of Washington. She is certified in acupuncture through the NCCAOM and clean needle technique certified. Having a medical background in both Western and Eastern medicine provides her with more insight and tools to help her patients achieve optimal health.

~Biography for Ashley Wakefield~


Ashley Wakefield is our remote office manager. In addition to providing office support for Flowing Health, she is the Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships for the Michigan Manufacturers Association.

Ashley worked in an integrative clinic in San Diego for many years, providing support for naturopathic doctors and chiropractors. Before starting her position at the Michigan Manufacturers Association, she worked as a Grassroots Manager at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

Although Ashley may never meet you in person, she looks forward to getting to know you in this era of social distancing via phone and email.
